Design Patent Information

NAHB monitors the granting of patents to residential building designs and subdivision layouts to ensure that such patents are properly issued by the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) and not for concepts in common usage. Since a patent holder can enforce receipt of royalties from builders and developers, improperly issued patents can involve substantial costs for members.
